Today's telephone consumers, manufacturers, and service providers are all seeking an integrated, yet simple, solution, that will aid in driving the Voice over IP (VoIP) revolution in residential telephony. Consumers demand the advanced features and affordability of VoIP but are resistant to give up the reliability and simplicity of the legacy telephone system (PSTN). Device manufacturers are seeking to support new services over multiple networks, yet lack a viable hybrid solution. VoIP providers wish to increase market penetration, but are hindered by slow consumer acceptance of current VoIP technology.
NST's leading product line - the EdgeOne platform - steps up to this market challenge by offering a tool that provides integration and intelligent routing between multiple telephony services and networks. EdgeOne operates on standard IP phones and ATA's (Analog Telephony Adapters) as an embedded software solution, allowing the consumer to purchase a single phone unit, requiring no manual set-up or configuration.
The EdgeOne platform enables telephone and ATA manufacturers, as well as telephony service providers, to market fully integrated hybrid handsets with dynamic routing between PSTN & VOIP. The hybrid functionality overcomes the main existing barrier to VOIP market penetration - end user concerns regarding "abandonment" of familiar PSTN service. Additionally, the "plug and call" nature of EdgeOne-enabled devices allows end users to dynamically utilize any VoIP solution (peer-to-peer, virtual service provider, etc.), alongside their PSTN service.
