 The company's patent pending technology provides end users with numerous advantages over both legacy and standard IP end user telephony equipment, by integrating - rather than replacing - PSTN with VoIP service.
- Fully Integrated Solution: NST's service management tool allows full integration of both legacy and IP communications networks on a single device - leveraging the benefits of each.
- Eliminates the need for residential users to abandon their legacy PSTN service - something they have been hesitant to do, as evidenced by the numerous calling card users who are willing to dial long access numbers before calls rather than cut their PSTN line and use an IP phone or ATA.
- Dialed calls can be routed via one of several networks,
 such as local calls to the PSTN, long distance calls to the IP network, or via peer-to-peer networks (such as Skype and Peerio), when possible. This can be done without the consumer switching over their number, dialing any extra digits, or using associated computer programs. The user continues to dial his phone as before, the embedded software chooses the appropriate network.
- Value added services such as voice mail and call waiting are fully integrated between the two networks.
- Ethernet instead of USB: NST's EdgeOne platform is a stand alone solution, requiring no interface to a computer, as some competing residential phones do. EdgeOne-enabled phones function - whether in IP mode or otherwise - just as a traditional Plain Old Telephone (POT), while all embedded software for the solution runs on the device itself.
- Wireless multi-set architecture: Most residential IP phones commercially available today support only one handset, although residential users often have more handsets in their homes. The EdgeOne platform provides service and full functionality on multiple handsets in multiple locations in the home, offering a full home solution, not just a localized solution for a single telephone.
- Powerful and flexible: NST's product brings
 a feature rich, enterprise quality, network and service provider agnostic solution, to the residential user. Yet, superior functionality is achieved without requiring the end user to purchase, setup or maintain a PBX or Key System. The solution is tailored to the residential user with no user setup required - and no truck roll for the service provider.
On-the-fly Provisioning: EdgeOne includes a comprehensive provisioning service, offering end users or service providers the capacity to decide which call will be routed through which network, as well as advanced options for using and managing VOIP content services.
